Anyone know of a place that can straiten a trolling motor shaft? I live in Sylacauga but will travel to Birmingham or Alaxander City if thats what it takes to get it fixed.

    Thanks,

Any good Machine Shop worth its weight should be able to help you out. I would think. Not sure of one in your area though.

I got caught at Mink Creek in high winds by myself a few years ago at Guntersville. Me and another guy, who had his boat near mine, were waiting our turn by trying to idle about 100 yards from the ramp, and people kept jumping in front of us. When I finally got my turn, I blundered after I tied the boat off to the dock and as it pounded into the dock, I ran to the truck and put the trailer down and then ran to the boat and tried to get it started by the little dock they've got there. Then, I messed up again and missed the trailer for the first time ever with the wind blowing in at 30 mph. That's when I got flustered and made a big honey boo boo on my next attempt after hitting a couple of rocks and putting down the trolling motor to get back out far enough to run with the big motor again. Ace here forgot to put it back up and banged the trolling motor right into the back of the trailer - with 30 mph winds blowing into the dock.

It's been a little crooked ever since, but it still turns, just a little more effort on the foot control. Well, actually a lot in a couple of positions. I probably need to have mine straightened, too, but I figured it would have died by now, but it still keeps going. It still works, so what the hell. I did just notice that where it plugs in at the front of the boat, one of the socket bars is loose, so I caught that and fixed it before it fell off of there. I have a spot where I use the trolling motor to get back to it because it's so shallow, it's a long dangerous hall, but it keeps on going and there's so many stumps I'm just going to run it until it finally dies. It's been a trooper. We've been through hell. It will get me one day, though, I'm sure.
