My wife promised me that if I died on the water and I was wearing my life jacket she would scatter my ashes in the Santee Swamp. If I did not have it on, she would scatter them in the Mall of America. (I hate shopping). Try to keep mine on all the time, I bought a couple from BPS that have the mesh top and they are fairly comfortable.

My boat, my rules is my philosophy. I have a bigger boat but I still have three basic rules, Anyone younger than 16 must wear a pfd. Anyone driving the boat must also wear a pfd. Anytime I say so EVERYONE on board wears a pfd. Most of the time the last rule is normally only enforced around dams, or in very rough water. I don't fear the Tennessee River System, but I darn sure respect it. I have lived here 15 years and each year this river claims at least one life. Many of them within 100 ft of the launch ramp or the shore.

Best way back in without a ladder is to hoist up just off center in the back (assuming engine is off) put a foot on engine wing area to help lift yourself and then wiggle, crawl and roll back on as quickly as possible.

I wear mine because my daughter has to wear hers. I figure I will try to set a good example when I can. It really hasn't been that bad once I got use to it.
