    Question Weiss Lake?

My Dad and I are planning on coming down and checking out Weiss first or second weekend in April. I think we will be launching from a place called JR's Marina.

We intend on bobber fishin. Anyone know if they are shallow yet or still in deeper water? Havent never been there and dont know what lures and colors to use. All we use here is hair jigs and minnows. What works best there?

    Appreciate any comments and suggestions.

I was at JR's 3/11-3/13, the weather was perfect and we had limits each day. It was the best trip we've ever had to Weiss. I believe the weather had a lot to do with that. The fish we caught(trolling jigs) were still on the creek channels but others were catching them shallow.
A friend of mine went this past weekend(3/18-3/19), it was really slow due to the cold front and it put them back deep.
Shallow or deep???........I think it depends on the weather between now and then.
I'm like you....we use hair jigs or popeyes up here but down there all we used were JR's jigs(sorta look like a fuzz-e-grub).

Just got back from Weiss last nite 3/22. Like Crappie1 said the cold front that moved thru pushed them back out in the channels. We caught a few fish shallow but not many.
Our best luck was trolling Cowen Creek, between 3 boats we probably averaged 60 keepers per day, not great but enough to keep you interested. If you want to troll, the channel just to the right when you come out of JR's can be a good area also.
The females we cleaned were full of eggs so They should be moving back in as soon as possible. I would try shallow first because your time-line should be about right for the spawn.
Our best colors were blue body/white tail and solid chartruse.
