Ive Been Bass Fishing In That Area And Seen A Few People Catching Some There But This Weeks Colder Weather Should Help Bring Them Out
Has anyone had success catching crappie in this area? I'd love to take my grandson bank fishing.
How deep?
Any size to the crappies?
Artificial or minnow?
Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Could you be more specific Ship ? I know Gville pretty good but I do not recall that name. What creek is Covenant Cove on ?
Thanks plant dr and papapump. Two weeks ago I took the wife up for a weekend getaway again at Guntersville. The first time I was there we stayed at the Holiday Inn resort at the junction of rt 79 and rt 431.
I caught 117 fish in 3 hours fishing but they were dink bluegillts. Anyway, the last time I took some binoculars with me. As I looked across the water I could see Covenant Cove marina and what loohed like it was a motel. I saw some people fishing on the pier. Could not see at that distance what they were catching though.
I was just wondering if the water was deeper there and if any crappies might be in that area? Over at the Holiday inn the water was about two feet deep and 3 feet if you made a good cast. (LOL)
I want to go back to G'ville and take the grandchildren and perhaps let them catch some nice crappie from the bank.
Thanks everyone.

For Bankfishing, I suggest the Highway 69 bridge in Warrenton, across from the Boat Mart. There are a lot of bream spots along the rip rap. For crappie, fish the pumphouse side if possible. Throw 1/16th or 1/32's toward the pump house from the bank. Facing the pumphouse from the bank, Special attention to the area to the left of the pumphouse almost a 45 degree cast takes the lure to the edge. If you go prepared to wade out just a little bit (be careful) that can sometimes make a big difference in the fishing. Of course the current is a key, the crappie will stage downstream of the bridge and pick off food as it is swept by. Which means you may need to fish the other side of the bridge depending on whether they are filling or pulling. If fishing the river side of the bridge I prefer the other end of the bridge casting out from an area next to or below the telephone pole closest to the bridge on that side. I would call TVA before making the trip to make sure they are running water. That hasn't been an issue lately but I'd would make the call, current is definitely a trigger at Guntersville.
You may need to get a number and get in line, a lot of folks fish the bridges, and a lot of folks catch fish from the bridges.
The RR bridge by the feed mills can be good fishing at times as well. That is off 227 the state park road.
Disclaimer: I haven't fished the bridges this year at all, this is what worked for me and others in years past. Due to health and killing the catfish closer to the house. I havent crappie fished since May, Slayed em then but haven't been back.
Back to your origional question I have no idea what the depth is off those piers, probably 6 - 10', with a boat there are a lot of likely areas to found on any of the creeks.

Plantdr is right on the money. The 69 bridge is a great spot. My youngest daughter hates fishing out of the boat but will fish for hours off the bank.
