Welcome to the site. Glad you're here. Hopefully someone local can help you out with some info.
Hey everyone
I'm new here on Crappie.com and excited to be part of this community! I'm based in Lafayette, LA, and got my first boat last fall with a new-to-us 2021 18' Sun Tracker Bass Buggy pontoon boat matched with a 2021 Mercury 90 four stroke.
I’ve always enjoyed fishing since I was little and always wanted a boat! This will be my first spring / summer with the boat and I don’t want to miss out on any good fishing or tubing spots.
My usual goto has been Henderson and recently enjoyed Indian Creek. Any advice on must-visit locations, tips for boating in Louisiana waters, or even pointers on handling a pontoon boat in these parts would be greatly appreciated.
P.S.
Here’s a recent photo from Indian creek. Kids had a blast, My parents had gotten site 95 which is the camping spot right on the point at the campgrounds on the lake. We were able to dock steps away from the RV site. Caught maybe 3 bream the whole weekend but we enjoyed the sights! Unfortunately was still too early for tubing to the kids disappointment.

Welcome to the site! Nice looking boat and family you have there! I am from the Lake Charles area so just about an hour to your west. Don't really know any good spots down this way other than Henderson, which you already mentioned. Anyway, glad to have you aboard! Great people on this site!

Henderson is good. Ramah further east can be good at times. Indian creek is good if ya like clear water. But from Lafayette I prefer water a little dirtier than that lol. Old river morganza would be fun for yall also.

I don’t fish fresh water in the Lafayette area but Toledo Bend is not too far north. It has anything you can hope for on a fresh water lake. Crappie should still be shallow and the red ears, blue gill and bass should be biting good too.
Cat fish as well
Just watch out for stumps in the coves and white caps on the open water.
