We got our first trip out for the year today. The boat gave me some fits last year and between that and (thank the Lord) a very busy year, we did not get to fish much last year, so getting an early start is a big treat for us.
Another first for me was getting to use my new JDM rig. A Majorcraft Aji-Do 1G paired with a Shimano Vanford C1000S, and just a different world of fishing. It is so sensitive and light, and just a pure joy to fish with. It's not a great pic, because my fishing partner, for some unknown reason lol, would rather have a pic of me that my first fish on a JDM rig, so you can barely see the tiny fish but it is the first of hopefully many on this set up.
The second pic is the unfortunate green fish that crashed my panfish party lol.
The next first was her first time hooking into some good shell crackers. The best one today was hers, and went 10" and pulled like a bull dozier lol.
The last first (is that a thing?) was her deciding she was done with the short casts and other issues that go with a spin cast and asked to use one of my rigs. She took to like a fish to water (see what I did there? lol) and another bass was her first fish on a spinning set up and I don't think she will look back lol.
