Well is turns out the Skid Plate was Plastic after all. So I used the repair kit from Amazon to add some integrity to the cracked areas from the tow truck.
I first melted quite a bit of Filler Plastic into the concave radius just for bulk and have material to push the reinforcement wire into.
After I stuck the reinforcement wire well I filled and flowed all the plastic together.

Decided to start tackling the codes the computer is throwing. First off is 2, Right Side Marker Lite open or shorted. Second Ambient Air Temperature Sensor shorted to Positive.
What Fun.
So on a Mercedes you can't just pull the battery, grief is the result. I love a problem, my wife works different puzzles, I troubleshoot. Here I fabricated a set of jumpers to work off a Odyssey Extreme Battery. This one is tiny but will put up 900 Amps for 5 seconds, size can definitely fool you with Odyssey Batteries. I make the secondary 12VDC supply connections before removing the main battery leads. Where a lot of Shade Tree Mechanics make a big mistake is they don't realize the Positive Battery terminal is still hot. Pulling the battery they push the terminal over to Ground and Fireworks! Can be $1500 worth as it Toasts the Computer. You can see I wrap the terminal with surplus electrical tape. Few know this but 1 layer of 3M 88 is good for 750VAC.
After the necessary stuff is completed and the area is opened up I cut open the wiring harness in a couple of areas that looked "Stressed". Well, it was a Dry Hole, wires were fine. Looking at some wires in the left hand corner I noticed one wire that I could see a little Copper. I wrapped that wire up in some 3M88 and continued on. Ringing out all the Grounds provided nothing.
I bought this Mercedes Repair Software off EBay and its Fantastic but a real heavy draw on computer memory. I spend the afternoon uninstalling old programs on the old laptop I installed the software on. You end up with a Virtual Operating System running within Windows, very Cool, well I'm a bit of a computer geek. I will see if I can get pictures or print to pdf some stuff off the software.

Electrical tape makes for some great insulation when installed correctly

Kept the Tacoma powered up last battery change. The last one I had lost all the phone information. What a pain to sync it all back together

Hmm I could jump from a spare marine battery to my terminals to keep radio presets etc while installing a new vehicle battery next time. I don’t own a cell phone so no worries there.

I drove my wife to the eye doctor for her checkup last week when the temps were 100 degrees in the shade. Well when we got off the interstate after a quick 20 minute drive, exiting on a circle ramp I could hear a egg had came up on the left front tire. Blessed are those who do not get a blow-out at 75mph on 100 degree days. Helping your neighbor when you don't want to, or helping a stranger when caution says otherwise, I believe this is what keeps the tires together when needed. Anyway, the tires I ordered (Coopers made in Mississippi) for the car thru Sam's Club.
I didn't dare drive the car over so I pulled the tires in the shop and dropped them off. Worked out well being able to leave and talk Racing Boats and Fishing while waiting for them to be ready.

Nice looking car. Sounds like you needed a day with a changed pace. Seems like you’re busy busy busy.
