I am a non resident with 53 acres and have to buy no license and tags. I only fish in KY as I hunt my home ground here in the Buckeye State.
On Youtube there is a channel titled Patriot Point which keeps you up to date on the changing Kentucky politics. Today's video is about a change to the Game Laws that takes effect this month (July 2013).
Under the new provision if you own 5 acres or less, you must have a fishing and/or hunting license to fish or hunt on your own property. In the past land owners and residents did not need a license to fish or hunt on their own land.
Something the politicos slipped in to further extract money from Kentucky sportsmen and sportswomen.
There is already a fix in process - BR85 - which removes this element from the law - BUT - BR85 will not be acted upon until January, when the lawmakers return.

It is sad times for sure
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
You know, when ever someone yells about buying a license I remind them that it goes to fund wildlife efforts, that being said I don't agree with the proposed law, I do hunt deer on my Ohio property but if I had to buy a license to do so Id have second thoughts
If I didn’t enjoy hunting and fishing enough to buy a license, then I don’t think I would be do in either one. Just saying.
