    I have also tried turning them upside down which disorients them and they calm and recover quickly.

    some folks do not understand these things and it is also not good to extend the lower jaw at a 90% angle from the head , just saying

    If your going to let them go, hold them by the bottom lip. When holding them in a towel or your hand, your are removing the slime. Not good for the fish. Don

    Again, how is a lip hold possible when unhooking panfish or small crappie?

    Do you hold a fish using a wet hand to sedate it? Once it's upended it starts flopping again when attempting to remove the hook.

    Plus, wiping a fish's sides with a cloth is a lot different than simply laying it on terrycloth that sedates it. I imagine the only thing absorbed would be water and very little slime. An unsedated fish flops again and again as I try to record it's length on a measuring board I wouid think removes more slime.
