Interesting reel for sure. It may pair nicely with the Lunakia. I can add this to the potential reel list for the new rod.

I think by using the name "Luvias Airity" it is differentiating the 2 Luvias models.....and that the Airity will be solely made in Japan. The Airity also offers a 1000 size reel unlike the Luvias. If you watch the video from Plat you will see the bushing when he takes the spool off. It is at the 1:48 mark in the video......a white nylon bushing at base of spool shaft. Nothing wrong with bushings in general but bearings are better. I am already thinking of purchasing this reel....but like you I am wondering about the price. A 1000 series Exist is 65,000 yen vs the 51,000 for the Airity. The Luvias Airity has 2 more bearings than the Luvias and yet they have decreased the weight by 5 grams. Not to mention the 1000 series Airity has a 4.9 ratio....which is right up my alley. Going to think long and hard but I am liking it right now.

Isn't this bushing the only part that will separate Luvias Airity FC LT from Exist FC LT models? Seems to be a pretty good deal, will probably be available at a price of Vanquish in time. One might think this will eat a good chunk of the Exist's market share. The difference between the LT (non-FC) line-ups is certainly more pronounced.
That’s my thinking. Am also wondering if they have a new Exist ready to come to market.

Do you think the Airity will remain “Made in Japan” or will subsequent production runs shift elsewhere?

My opinion is it will stay made in Japan.

Which 1000 model Daiwa should I purchase? I wanted another Ballistic but don't really want to spend the money as it seems they've shot the moon. Is the Gekkabijin or Freams worthy to pair with my Triplecross? I don't want a 2000 series, prefer the 1000. Thanks
PS..I paid around $220 last year for my Ballistic...What happened?
Prices are out of site on lots of gear. I figure it will take a year to get stocks...and prices.....back to normal.

Just an FYI Digitaka has 3 new Daiwa reels listed that will be available soon...Caldia LT, Freams Lt, and Luvias Airity. All 2021 models and all come in the 1000 series. Maybe one will fall in your budget.

I may seriously consider the Freams 1000 series. I think it's probably $150ish, not sure. I don't mind putting out bigger money because I thoroughly enjoy the Luvias and Ballistic reels that I do own. It just seems like those models have really shot the moon price wise. It's hard to imagine spending $400-$500 on a panfish reel. I guess psychologically $300 is probably all I would prefer to spend. Beyond that point, you really need to examine your reasons for doing what you're doing.
This really is a road of no return. I haven't fished with my St Croix rods in two years. I've started to give them away and sell them to a neighbor for cheap.
