I made a mount from an old tm clamp on mount for my jon boat and the electronics are stored in a box like what has already been seen.
Then I made a stand so the screen would be in arm's distance.
Everything works great on the jon boat but I was still trying to figure out how to put the unit on my skeeter without drilling holes. The clamp on mount works great on the jon boat but is a no go on the big boat. I still needed a way to swap the transducer but I wanted it on it's own pole so it would act independently of the tm. What I came up with wasn't swapping the poles between boats but making a separate system for the skeeter. Even though the poles are different clamping the transducer from one pole to the other and wrapping with electrical tape takes very little time.
It would be very easy to make this mount a part of the tm and use the tm to scan with but as I said earlier I want to be able to scan without moving the tm. My new mount is basically a 1 1/4" inside a 1" so it will pan however, it pans a bit too easily. To remedy this I added bushings that are snug in the 1 1/4" but is just friction tight on the rotating 1" shaft.
Have not tested it and it may be a total flop but in theory it should work and best of all I can swap between boats and no drilling in my big boat needed.
