Wonder what it looks like in the water?

rich mc sent me a few ties he did using a furled material, also sent a little of the material he was using and it gave me some ideas. I have had this CCT Body Fur packs for a long time, maybe 7 years or longer, lol! Now finally rich mc ties gave me the idea of trying to use this CCT Body Fur to furl for a tie. Now this is my first and think I can do a little better and maybe even add something else. Enough yacking, here is a 1/8 Nickel Plated Roadrunner tied using the CCT Body Fur.
Only problem now is I have so e of this Body Fur that is even larger and not sure cutting it down to a nice taper seems too much.
Thank you rich mc as you have given me more ideas to play with!

I have not got it wet yet, maybe later today. I believe rich mc saw the Dragon Tails post and his ties are kind of like them. I also am not sure, but may need to cut it down a little more, but it's not a hard tie and if it wiggles it should be great! Also I picked this color because so many guys are catching fish on The Gray Ghost or something close to that. Even some White or close soft plastics I see doing well.

I did go down to my little dock and make a few cast. Only thing seems to be the bluegills hitting it as there just not anything else in this water other than maybe a few buck bass I already caught, lol! One thing I have been slow to learn even though I have tied a lot of the Gray Ghost jigs, this Gray thing is something I have just not really paid attention to in my own fishing, but that will change going forward!
it did look pretty good in the water, but not much wiggle to it, however the number of hits was impressive compared to the Dragon Tails! It thankfully does loose some of that fluff size when wet. Also the reflective properties of this material is very nice!

i think the body fur is stiffer than the eyelash yarn i sent you. two other factors do effect the action.the amount of twists in furling , more twists will be stiffer . also how the jig is trimmed will effect action. trimming to a point like a dragontail will have more whip action. trimming it like a baitfish ,tapering the body before a fatter tail will have more kick side to side.
Oh it is more stiff for sure, but you have to realize I have had this Body Fur for so many years and this is the first thing I ever tied using it, lol! I know this will work very different with different materials and really just happy to have a new thing to play around with to see what I can dream up. I did also notice with this Body Fur it was buoyant enough to keep the bait level even when I just let it hang still in the water.
I will tell you I am getting a lot of bluegills hitting this thing so maybe too I can try it on something else. I will try other materials as I move on. So thank you for the idea for sure!

That’s a good looking jig, very unusual. I would bet that if it was a little bigger that the salty guys would be loving it. I have some heavy RR heads that would do well with something like that. Neat, looking forward to where this goes.

I agree and think this bait has a lot of possibilities other than Crappie. You could make this any size you want. This is not the larger size of Body Fur either as there is a much larger one. So maybe even some of the big toothy critters up North? With that you could use any size jig head really. In the Salt Water I would thing Reds, Speckled Trout as well as a lot of other fish.
