Great trip

Heading down to Louisiana today to try and catch a few of those big crappie. The plan is to pick Jeff up around 10 tonight. That would put us at Grizzly Jig first thing in the morning. A quick stop there and maybe Prairie Wings will break the trip up nicely.
I left the boat down there for the winter so Friday evening and Saturday morning will be for installing a new Lowrance Elite 7, moving my old Elite 5 to the bow and changing the rectifier on the motor. A quick check of the bearings and lights and a fresh charge of the batteries and we'll be ready to fish.
Planning a crawfish boil for Saturday afternoon and six days of fishing after that.
Stay tuned, hopefully we'll have some stories and pictures for you.

Crawfish boil was fantastic! I think Jeff ate 25 pounds by himself. The electronics are hooked up and ready to go. Rectifier installed, no more dead start battery.
Got rained out today. Took a ride to Acadamy Sporting Goods and bought a few jigs. They had a great deal on marine batteries, 27 group for 69.00. Wish I would have waited, just replaced all three of mine last fall. Checked out the dam on D'arbonne, the lake is slightly high and very muddy, the bayou below the dam is high and rolling. Upper D'arbonne is stained but not muddy and there were 4 boats out. That's where we're going in the morning.
Setting here watching basketball and waiting for a chuck roast to get done and dreaming about 2 pound slabs.

Got on D'arbonne today. 26 degrees when we launched with a stiff 15 mph north wind. Tried to hide from the wind and spider rig and had some success with Jeff landing two crappie and a yellow bass and me one yellow bass. Moved a few times and fished shiners under bobbers and I managed one nice fish, one throw back and Jeff caught a cat fish. By the time we left the lake at 4:00 we were cold and hungry. A big crock pot of bean soup took care of both of those problems. Big fish was 1lb 10oz. Poverty Point tomorrow.
We were the only ones on the lake for most of the day.
I would say diehards but that’s just spring fishing up here
Where’s Wilbur? I see a goat beard but it ain’t on no trophy!
