That would work, but I'm a trolling nut, even between fishing spots.

I'm using a Lowrance Hook2-5 Splitshot sonar on my Nucanoe F12. I put a Scotty transducer mount on a 8" low-profile rail on the gunnel, where I can reach up and swivel it up and out of the way when launching/beaching. Works pretty well, and is easily removed if I am fishing a shallow shoals river and don't need the sonar. I really like the unit, only issue has been getting SonarChart Live working with the included Navionics map card. They are sending a new card that hopefully corrects that.

2nd the please send pic... ability to quickly lift a transducer for launch, beaching, or sudden shallows sounds like a real winner. For a sidescan FF,I can see how you'd have a better image / increased fish spotting ability compared to a thru hull setup. Any problems with fouling of the fishing line on the transducer up infront of the yak: especially when a fish on suddenly cuts the other way right at the bow of the yak?

I must withdraw my endorsement of the Lowrance Hook2-5 sonar. I am now on my second service case with Lowrance/Navico support, this time the issue is spurious rebooting. Definitely not the battery, its brand new, only runs the sonar, and I've checked it with my Fluke - it was 12.4V when the unit was acting up today. Not happy.

Thanks for update on your opinion on lowrance! Have older unit on my big boat that thinks time stamp should be years ago, so it can't find sats for good lock. Can't use gps now, but at least sonar works. Still haven't rigged kayak for ff, but not leaning towards lowrance now-a- days, once i can find time to start that project( or even use the yak). Tight lines

I have the same one but bought from walmart. Haven’t installed it yet though. I need to get the mounting hardware. It doesn’t come with any.

I made this for my canoe, its removable. I use helix 5. would work for a kayak as well.
at first i used a suction cup mount for a cheapy fish finder and it worked but now this mount works great when trolling my canoe for crappie. hope it gives a few some good ideas.
