I like, they will work!
How are you rigging these. I think that they are very interesting, and have mad me some. I just cast them on 4lb test mono, but with a 1/32 jig head.

Tahoe, I'm probably going to rig these drop shot style. I haven't had a chance to get on the river with them yet.

Best I can tell the history of the Thunder Spin Fly: I saw it in Terry and Roxxane Wilson's book "Bluegill Fly Fishing and Flies:" In fact they misspell it in the book calling in Thender Spin. That threw me off for years now, lol. Anyway the fly was a stripped bass fly, but a Kentucky Lake fellow down sized it into a trophy bluegill fly. He used the old Thunder Creek minnow as the base pattern. I can't find the book now or I'd post the fellow's name.
I'm trying to up-size and target catfish with it. I figure a 2/0 hook with a #4 spinner would be a god starting point for cats. Especially if tipped with nightcrawlers.
Here's a good article on the Thunder Spin Fly on Fly Angler's Online.

If I run across the book I'll try and make a video on the fly as it is in the book.
