With all of this rain, I have begun assembling all of the critters around here, two by two, to board my boat when the water level raises it off the trailer.
I couldn’t go if someone loaded me up and took me, and the river is still way up in flood stage. Two months back I could make a three hour trip and catch and release a couple dozen or more gills and a few crappie. Just before surgery I made a three hour trip and threw many different offerings and boated one fish. No other hits or activity. With it still raining most every day somewhere along the river basin, I see no help in sight. I pray that the weather pattern changes sometime next month so we can all enjoy a good gathering in early October. Til then, I guess I will just have to smile when I think of the banner trips my guests and I enjoyed and hope conditions improve soon. What say you? Is it wearing on you as well?

Not terribly as the heat makes trips less enjoyable. Probably make a run over to the brine this coming weekend. Likely be off the water by 9:30- 10:00am anyway. Fish pull off the flats or tuck waaaay back in the mangroves about the time the sun starts pouring on.

I've been fishing offshore and around Tampa Bay. I can't seem to figure out the summer fishery locally, aside from bass, and I just don't get big into bass fishing.

I've been doing a little playing here on Griffin, but not much to speak of. Heal well my friend, you'll get out soon.

Thanks for asking guys. I drove for the first time today, and my collarbones have been talking to me ever since. I don't see any boat time for another month. Not real sure that I could fight a big fish if I went throwing a frog in the grass. I'm just hoping the rain quits enough that the river goes down by early October when we have a gathering planned. River is in flood stage and most ramps are closed. If you do go on the river it's idle only to cut the damage to the river homes. I know what a caged animal feels like now but not having someplace to fish 3 miles down the road makes it a little easier. Good doctor reports so I guess I should be quiet and count my many blessings. The best of which is my wife, I don't know what I would do without her. Might start tying some jigs to break the monotony, I've definitely got the time.

Sorry Skeet, didn't catch the surgery part in the first pass.
Hope you get to feeling better quick. I've got one on my back on the horizon somewhere that I'm not looking forward to at all.
