the females will start eggs soon after the spawn, catch them all winter with eggs, no biggy
I know I have been out of fishing for the last 15 years but got my fish home yesterday and started cleaning them and they had eggs in them like a spring crappie. I assume that is normal, I just don't recall that from the past. ??

It's not uncommon for crappie to have eggs all year long. They rarely release them all and will use the old ones as energy to produce new ones and survive the winter months.

Good to know. I been catching fish all fall and winter here in NC with eggs in them and didn't know they used them for energy.
