Was blessed to be able to get back on Gibson yesterday with my good friend Charlie Powell. WT had dropped to 44 degrees from last Monday and what we found after being hard headed and fishing the same stuff which held fish a week ago were void of crappie today. Put my electronics to work and went looking. We found the fish had mover to deeper water and we're willing to bite if offered the right bait and presentation. Cast n Drag, High Standard Carbon Fiber Rods, Gama Panfish Mono, Timmy Toms Weedless Jigs, Crazy Angler Slab Bandits in Salt N Pepper. Most fisherman like getting vertical over the wood but what I have found in the clearer water lakes it best to get off the wood and make long casts over it working your Baits back over and through the limbs to create that reaction strike. Remember with low water temps to slow down. I mean really slow down. Granted yesterday with no sun that dreaded shadow from the boat over the wood didn't exist. We were able to catch 29 crappie out of a single tree by doing this method yesterday. No they were not all keeper size crappie but 17 of them were. We ended with a 2 man limit at 1:22pm while starting at 9:30am. Keeper crappie caught were 47 with a total of over 65 including shorts, drum, and a few sandbass as well.......Ranger
