    you don't have to strip the reel clean. take off just more than you can cast then re-spool with whatever by tying the lines together

    Wouldn't buy combo's, separate pieces. Have a couple of Shakespear Ugly Stick Pro Lite rods and use Shimano reels on them. I'd strip any line on a combo if you go that way.

    I just bought a BnM Cadillac Combo, that was supposed to have 30' of line on a 12' pole. First trip, I discover I have about 5-6' of line out the end of the pole. Only caught dinks. I get home and pull out line, to cut off and replace, the knot pulled out with minimal effort. So I don't trust pre-rigged stuff anymore.

    I usually replace the line, but recently I purchased 2 reels from Cabela's and they put on the line I wanted for free. I left it on there.
