Prefer the #4 like my friend from Iowa. I do use a #2 for 1/8 and 1/4. I hope to move south before to long so I can design a bigger jig style!!!!

Depends on how I'm fishing. For casting jigs, I use 1/16th w/#2 hook by far the most. On still days or when they want a slow fall, I use a 1/32nd w/#2. I go a little heavier for tightlining. Brands of hooks can make a difference. I use Eagle Claw, sickle, and Gamakatsu.
I'm almost always vertical jigging or spider rigging. I never use jig heads, always #1 or #2 true turn hook with minnows or jigs/minnows and a 1/4 or 3/8oz split shot up about a 8-10 inches above the hook. I've always thought jig heads keep the minnow from moving around much but that may not be the case.

1/8 and 3/32 I use a #1, sometimes a #2 in a 3/32, 1/16 a #2, my 1/16oz pony heads have a #4 in them but when I pour again I'll use a #2. Today I bought a 1/8oz pony head and will use a #1 in it. I like big hooks and don't think it affects how the fish bite, they strike the bait not the hook. Crappie have big mouths, I've seen some aquarium size (4") crappie caught on #1 and #2 sickle hooks.
