Glad to have you with us Frank....Where is Phillip, MS ?
My name is Frank Smith and I now reside in the BIG city of Philip, Ms I have a 14 ft Polarcraft jon boat with an old 20hp Mercury electric start engine, and I got a trolling motor but can't remember the name on it. I am new to crappie fishing, had to work myself to death just to make a living, never had the time. I am retired now and have a little more time to fish and I have registered here to get some tips and pointers from some of you experts. I know I will enjoy this site and I hope to learn something, especially about jig fishing, haven't got a clue about jigs. Thanks for having me.

Hello from N. Texas.
never fished for Crappie in a serious way..going to change that today...
I hunt some as well.
Live pretty darn close to Lake Texoma, Ray Roberts, Lavon.
Years ago I used to live in Marshall county, Ky. Fished and bow fished the LBL lakes.
best days were working on local only-river barges and fishing while on the time clock. lol.
best regards,
Bryan
Greetings Bryan,
You sure picked on h--l of a time to start fishing for crappie, from everything I've read and the folks I've talked to the very best time is in the spring, next is fall followed by summer then winter.
I went out about 3 days ago and hooked up the boat with all the intentions of going fishing and bt the time I got the boat connected I was wringing wet, so I turned around and came right back in where it was cool.
But Welcome to the forum, as you can tell I haven't been a member long myself. Good luck with those crappie and above all else be careful.
hehe, not the best timing..but just got my first boat
So a co-worker here - a bona-fide Crappie man and experienced boater - and I are going out this afternoon.

Hi all, I have visited this site several times and think its great! I live in florida but will be moving back to ohio in a couple months. The crappie fishing is great here as well as most of the other fishing. I had a Bass club in ohio for about 12 years and it was great. We worked with the ohio div. of wildlife on projects in the winter months planting xmas trees and cinder blocks on the inland lakes. I hope to meet some of you a little later on when im back up north. I have no job here,no work in florida. I will have work up north tho and would be glad to donate to the forum once I am settled. I am shure I will learn a lot more than I know by visiting this forum.
Thanks
Mike
The nice thing about florida crappie fishing is we dont keep anything under 12 inches
