Is that the speed that seems to work the best for you ? Most of my fish have been caught between 2 - 2.5 mph .
Thanks Rparkman thanked you for this post

No. I think it it too fast. My pontoon trolls at about 3 which I feel is much better. I am actually ordering another prop with less pitch to reduce it down. It is much harder to get the lures down at 4 mph and I think I miss a few fish, although I have heard of people trolling at up to 5 mph. The good thing is you cover more ground.

Do you cast your rig out and count it down and then close your bail to try to get it down to what. Depth you want to be fishing ?

I have my best luck with 6" - 7" swimbaits but I have caught several fish on 9" baits also .

I start letting it out and then just place it in the rod holder while I am trolling letting it free spool till I get out the correct amount of line. I usually run one fairly close 75-100 yards and one out maybe about 150 yards or more to get a little deeper. I run a deep diver or two a little closer to the boat in between the umbrella rigs. I run white curley tails grubs on all the jigs except the main center on. I run a one ounce spro bucktail with 6 inch green trailer on it. I usually run the junior flashmob rigs that I can pick up at walmart for about 13 dollars with everything except the spro. I have tried the larger umbrella rigs but have more luck with these smaller ones. Best luck on divers is a old blue and silver bass crankbait I have that has a yellow lip on it. Old one probably 10 years or so. Can't find another so don't know what I am going to do when I loose it. lol.

Do you ever catch more than 1 fish on the umbrella rigs ?

I have a rig where I pull 2 swimbaits and have caught 2 stripers on it.

Only once and they were spotted bass. The stripers always hit the back lure. Some people don't even run jigs on the others just attach swimbaits or curly tails directly to swivel, but I use jigs on all to get the extra weight.

There are videos on utube with them catching 4 or 5 stripers on umbrella rigs, but never happens to me.
