That is a nice string of fish

From March 2011, Caught on the Eno River in NC.

That's actually not a bad sized white perch. For those that aren't from coastal areas, white perch are a saltwater relative of striped bass that unfortunately can also survive fine in fresh water. They do appear to out compete white bass in the same waters, and very few predators will eat them because of their sharp fins and gill plates. They taste pretty good, but only rarely get as big as white bass. They are moving into a lot of lakes and river systems now. Whether or not they will impact shad or other baitfish species remains to be seen, but a lot of people just kill them when they catch them.

I resemble that remark. They go in the box no matter the size. If there's nobody at the ramp that wants them they go in the woods. Never tried it but they might make good cut bait for cats. Hmmmmmmmmmm, think I'll try filleting one and putting small strips on my jigs.

They do, I used to use whole ones in the 3-4 inch range for channel cats, striper, and blue cats in the Potomac, and cut chunks as well. I think fish prefer the shad when they have a choice, but they will knock the heck out of a small white perch when they have the chance.
