Alright Mountaineers, better change baits. All we are hearing are crickets. lol
Anyone doing any good in WV waters crappie fishing? It seems the WV portion of this site is barely breathing and I'd like to get some info flowing. I know there are crappie fishers here in WV so lets talk.
I have only been able to get out a couple times on my local lake (Beech Fork) with only a little to show for it (literally and figuratively). Only a bout a dozen each time and nothing of much size (only one about 8"). I am new to the spider rigging and crappie fishing in general so I'm trying to learn how to catch at least a few to eat. I may be only dreaming about good size crappie around here, but I'm trying. Any help would be great. Also where you all fishing and how you doing?

Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
wvfishing, I was born and raised in the eastern panhandle of WV and grew up fishing the tributaries of the Potomac as well as local lakes. I'd never seen nor heard of a crappie caught. I think dnr were working on some stocking plans some 20yr ago. Smallmouth and trout were the norm. Good to hear that you are catching some. Hit me up with a pm if you're ever in Arkansas
Wvfishing, what part of the state are you in? I’m right across the river in Kentucky and if you fish beech fork we are probably pretty close to each other

I’m out of Parkersburg WV...
Welcome to the forum j_c.
A lot of good info on this forum.
Are you catching crappie in the Parkersburg area?
Good deal. Keep us updated when you get to go again. I'm really interested to hear about crappie there.
Hey Jman I'm in Barboursville and I do fish Beech Fork. I try to get out as much as work allows. Caught some nice crappie out of there this past spring (bigger than I ever thought were in there). Hope to be getting out soon as weather allows.

Do you all like dip jigs around standing timber or do you guys like to cast and shoot docks?
