Has anyone been to Tygart Lake yet this year? How was the bite? What were you catching?
Well, after this weekend I'd say stay away from Tygart for a couple of weeks...or if you're near by, check the water level first before you plan on spending the whole day on the water. The lake is probably around 5 or 6 feet above summer pool level, which makes it tough to find the cover to fish around since the water is so far up the banks around the lake. Also, there is a lot of debris on the lake right now because of everything that's been picked up with the high water level. That being said, we did catch a few little small mouth bass trolling and vertical jigging with artificial baits. I figure if the water level was down to normal pool and we could've found the cover a little better we probably would've done okay. My recommendation would be to plan on fishing elsewhere until the water level is down. Happy fishing!
