Big bass blast is over they didnt do it this year and wont do that tournament ever again. I fished a private lake today and caught 5 largemouth and 3 smallmouth. With the biggest at 3 lbs off a bed.I lost a 4 lb smallmouth and a 3+ smallmouth.I caught the smallmouth on hulagrubs, and the largemouth on lizards and hulagrubs. Almost all were caught SIGHT FISHING.One of my friends caught 2 smallies at 1.5 lbs too.

Urbanfisher, to catch fish consistently you got to find a pattern.

Knowing your targets seasonal movements is the key...even more so than lures or technique. You can have all the gear and casting skills in the world but if you're fishing the wrong structure during the wrong time of year.....skunked . I also have topo maps of every lake that I fish and I keep them in a binder in my tackle bag. So this weekend I fished many lake points, humps, and shallow flats without a hit. The first fish I caught was on the edge of a deep flat with grass starting to grow on it. I pulled out the map, found where I was fishing at, then looked for more areas like it. I nailed a bass or got hits at ever one of those other areas.

The perch are thick right now in the south end of both lakes in 20 feet of water. Also found a nice school of crappie on Union but couldn't get them to hit so I just watched them on the Aqua-Vu for about 20mins and moved on.

Yep, nothing pisses you off more than knowing the fish are there but they're not eating :D. The perch would crush any lure you sent down to them but the crappies were tight lipped. Oh well, I'll be heading out again Sunday morning to give it another shot. If the weather would just stay stable for a solid week we'd be in good shape.

Yeah you find the fish then you have to sit there and pattern them for reaction strikes if they arent hungry.

Yeah we motored around the lake looking for schools but found nothing till we came out of the cut on the lake washington side and they were stacked up big time close to a drop off. we casted to them drifted over them, nothing.
