Default A tip on Silver lake crappie in September!

This is the Silver Lake in cowlitz co. The crappie start to school in september on open water brushpiles, under docks, on rock piles and the edge of the pad fields. I will be talking about the edge of the pads for now. One way to locate crappie on the edge of the lily pads is to troll a crappie jig spinner right up next to the edge (with in inches). Once you catch one, stop and work the area looking for more. If none are found get back to the search. I have found some very good sized schools this way. you can also spot them moving water on the edge of the pads, so keep your eyes open. you do not need much line out 6 -12 feet of line and you will catch all kinds of fish including some nice bass. This is a good way to find some big crappie too.
Hope this helps you on silver and other lakes.

do not catch many after easter they move out into the main lake and spread out and are not schooled. If I would try now I would fish the edge of the pads and deeper brush and pilings.
