Just returned from Banks Lake, fished for walleyes on thursday, got sunburned, tried my luck for crappies on friday in my bellyboat out in Osborne Bay east of the highway. Managed just one 13" crappie and a nice 3lb smallie all on a tiny jig on my ultralight outfit. then i tried the bay by Steamboat Launch with a 1/8 oz chartruese roadrunner. No crappies but nailed a few bass. With this heat wave it might be time for west side crappies to heat up. Rip some lips.........Jim

seriously, i need to know for the sake of spending valued homework time on something more important.... with that being said im like brand new to this forum and need some help 'cause usually i could tell anybody how to catch fish down at tracy owen station park. if u ever go down there in the summer, chances are youll see me catching all the fish. i just cant seem to grab um' yet, even from a boat. im used to using a small particular spinner, worms, and the all mighty perch meat for bait so if there are any techniques or different types of fishing that are bound to get a hit, my ears are open. please, ya gotta help me.

That water is still too cold for them to move up shallow. That may change this week but I really think they are not going to spawn until the 1st week of June this year...at least in the deeper lakes. A few of the smaller lakes have fish that are slowly starting to spawn though. When BPM and I went out two weeks ago on Washington (chasing bass:D) the schools we spotted were still in 20' of water and suspended with the water temps in the low 50's. The bass are not even on beds in mass numbers yet (very...very...few are). It's just gonna take some time this year for them to move up on the big lakes.

I'll be checking on Lake Washington/Union on Sat and Kapowsin/Ohop on Sunday for slabs. Good luck if you guys head out.

never mind all those previous messages cause the fish, once more, are biting like hell. hooked 5 on tuesday (2 blue gill, a perch, and 2 GIANT squaw fish), then 11 wednesday just dropping a worm down about 7 feet of the dock. but i guess one thing is still bothering me. 1 of those 11 fish i hooked was so huge that it bent my pole in half when biting and then when hooked, it jerked twice and swam under the dock and snapped my 6 pound test. now i know for a fact it didnt bite through my line cause it was on a swivel and leaded hook, but just want some suggestions on wat the hell that thing was! it pissed me off and if anyone is somewat sure wat it was and can give me advice on how to try to catch it, it would be much appreciated. it was on the dock on lake washington in kenmore. u know, log boom park.

Burton, I was at the same location you speak of on Thursday pitching a jig on the shoreline, hooked into something huge, and turned out to be a large carp, i had seen a few earlier but had no idea they would hit on a common crappie jig, obviously i was wrong, same thing after keeping it on for a while with no chance of landing it the line finally snapped. I saw several afterward and I'm pretty sure this is what snapped your line, but you never know i could be wrong. Water is warming so it should pick up soon...
