That lake must be full of bass with all that bait for them to eat. We used to go down to Lake Union at night when I was a kid to catch crawdads. We'd use a size 10 hook ran through a chunk of perch and use a flash light to find the crawdads on the brken rock banks found on the westside of the lake. We'd drop the bait right in front of them and wait for them to clamp on. Then we would slowly pull them out of the water and place a bucket under 'em and they drop right in. Man that used to be fun. My dad would boil those suckers up and you talk about fine eating! They still commerical fish for them on Lk Washington. One of the regular old guys that traps them out there says they get up to about 10" long in the deeper water.
That brought back some fond memories of growing up in the "Boot" (La.). We used liver, some twine and a old limb from a tree. The trick is, as Slab said, is to be sure to have something under them before they find out that they're out of the water. Anyway, Slab we were thinking about going to Prineville Or. If that's cool with you, then we'll leave about 12:30 1 am tonight. It takes about 5 hours to get there, so we should be there around 6am. We'll come back Saturday night or Sunday (we usually let the fish dictate). Give me a jingle and we can tweek this plan as needed.........

That's gonna be a great fishing hole in few years if you guys keep it up. You'll have to feel me in on the details when we go out sometime. I've been thinking about sinking a few brushpiles myself. There's this rock break line I've found on Lake Union that holds monster slabs, I'm taking 12-16" potbellied slabs. But it only seems to hold them in the late fall from Oct to early Dec. I know the depth is right to hold them year-round but there's no real structure there to make them stay. I'll get around to it one of these years but you sure are making want to do it sooner than later!

No problem. I know most of the guys out there set there traps in the logjams near the wood mill on the south end of the lake. They have to mark their traps with floats so you can see were they place them.

I'll be on the bank at Potholes, no boat needed to catch the slabs just gotta know where the structure is. The dock out there is about three or four blocks long all together and goes from the bank out to about 40 feet of water. Walleye, bass, channel cats, trout, bluegill, crappie, perch, and carp can all be caught of the docks. Most days you get a few of each species if you work the right area with the right lures.

We can always make the run up to Moses Lake while we're there if you want to get into some serious crappie fishing. It's only about 20mins up the road. Gotta get Chris to meet us out there and bring his rig to take full advantage of the slabs in Moses.

The weekend of the 6th would work great for me. My girl is coming  so if your girlfriend could go they would a good time (while we take the boat out for a spin :D ). Looks like I'll be camping as close to the beach as I can get. I'll give Chris a call this week if he doesn't post on these threads.
