    Default Intro

    Hello all,
I'm Joe Heater. Currently live in Arlington, WA (Snohomish County) I have lived in Wash for 8 yrs. Retiring from the Navy in a year. Originally from Iowa. I wish I would have found this site earlier.

I spend 1-2 weekends a month spring through fall on the other side fishing for walleye. However, Im slowly getting back into Crappies. I have fished (for crappie) in Campbell, McMurray, Bryant, Goodwin, Stevens, Sunday, Big, Cassidy and Roesigner. Cassidy is the most populated but by far the smallest, I have caught 1 out of both Sunday and campbell. Goodwin and Stevens have skunked me. The others I have faired well in. But I could use some help or some company.

I have 2 lunds. 17' SS Angler that I keep in walleye country (E WASH) and a 16' tiller that I keep over here. I am actually headed to Roesigner in the morning to try and find some crappie. If anyone ever wants to go slab hunting over here hit me back. I look forward to picking your brains for your expertise.

Found them suspended at 10 feet in 20 feet of water. Gold jig with a wax worm landed me a dozen or so. Kept 7. My partner got 1 dink but he dont fish much. he was getting hits, couldnt hook them. Thanks for the welcome. I got uncles that live in Ozark, Mo and Lebanon, Mo. Not sure how far that is from you. I am supposed to go there in the next year or so and visit.

Way to go. Didn't get to go this weekend, fishing buddy sick and the wind is bad. Ozark is about 15 mi. South and Lebanon is 60 East of Springfield. We have lakes all around us about an hour North and South. When you get down this way give us a shout.

    Ian,
Thanks. That is by far the best I have done for Crappie in Washington IN THE WINTER. I dont fish in the winter for them all that often. I fished Lake Stevens 3 times this winter going back to December and have been blanked each time on crappie. Im not sure there are even crappie in that lake but I hear there are.

I posted the recent report on Washingtonlakes.com and some guy jumped all over me for keeping 7 crappies between 9 and 10. I try to conserve but I mean come on, I kept 7 crappies, it isn't like I fished it out. I was over a nice school for 3 1/2 hours. All in all we caught 13 and we released 6.

Also, I will travel down South to go fishing if there are good lakes down there. All last year we traveled to the other side of the state to fish walleye, no reason not to drive south for good crappie fishing. I would think lake Washington would be a dynamite Crappie fishery considering it gets limited pressure. I have only fished L Washington 3 times and each time it was jigging perch.
