go dawgs!!
That sounds like fun. I haven't really fished many of the lakes down south. Good way to learn some new water. Anyone ever tried St Clair?

I've fished it numerous times. Caught some decent bluegills, not monsters, but eaters during the spawn. I've always stayed off of the main lake and stayed back in the 5 mph portion. I've caught some bass too but I had to go find things other folks weren't pounding, like submerged stumps/brush that you can't see without the electronics.
I've also caught some decent trout in there for the smoker. By far, the best portion that produced fish is the very far end of that 5 mph zone that winds around and is actually right across the street from the launch you'll use. The islands have been good for all of the above.

Thanks for the info Brokentrail. I was going to head down that way on the 7th and check out a few lakes in the area.
Fished the Cut on Monday for an hour.5 with a cold and weeds on my hooks to show for it. The weatherman lied and I was freezin' my ass off thanks to the windchill (flocks and flocks of crows were hangin out in the trees and making all kinds of noise too - it was like a scene out of a movie over there). I'm gonna give it another go tomorrow (supposedly in the 60s!!!) after work.
Fished the cut for an hour or two after work today - wind was whipping pretty hard and lowered the temps quite a bit.
Threw a LC Rick Clunn? crank most of the time - then switched to a trick worm on a shaky head and managed the dinkiest of dinks (probably like 6") at the overhang/bank part of the cut. It dropped off before I could even pull it up but at least I know there is something in there. Im so rusty I felt the "tap" of the fish but I figured it was just another riprap I was going over so I didn't really set the hook or anything - was surprised as all hell when what I thought was a clump of weeds flopped off my worm.
I think with the rest of the weeks supposed warming trend it might pick up.
I think you're right about this weekend. There should be a good number of fish up on points and any riprap you can find. I'm fishing for largemouths this weekend but I'll be up on Washington next weekend if the weather is decent.
