Default bank fishing Lk union and washington

I have been in the seattle area for around 1 1/2 years tried fishing the rivers but i am used to fishing for bass and crappie. Could anyone tell me where to fish for bass or crappie from the bank for a little luck. I haven't caught a single fish since i have been in this state and would love to change this

Its a bit early for bank fishing on those lakes but doesnt hurt to try!

Union, there is a decent dock on fairview park on the east side of the lake. The southern point by Jillians/outback steakhouse has another dock you can fish as well. Gasworks park on the north side of it has some bank fishing areas. I dont know much about the west side of the lake.

Lake washington, I only fish the arboretum(the LM are finicky here or I just suck but I don't catch too many, lots of panfish here as well) or the montlake cut ship canal(for SM) due to location but people seem to like the eastside docks on the kirkland side of things a lot. Coulon park on the south tip of the lake, luther burbank on mercer island, juanita bay, seward park, etc. all have fishing docks as well. People also recommend fishing under/around i-90 too.

These are all bass locations for me, since I havn't caught a crappie yet but someone else here should be able to clue you in on bank locations for crappie (i'd like to know as well!)

    Hope that gets you started.

luther burbank has a nice dock that is good for smallmouth. drop shot small senkos, sniper snubs, etc. around the pillars.

coulon is also a great smallmouth dock(s). i like to cast hula grubs under the docks and cranks in the shallows. there's some largemouth in the weeds as well.....

crappie from the shore is tough on lake washington. i've only caught a few during the spawn..... if you really want crappie bad, make a trip to lake cassidy. they have a crapy little dock, but it's one of the better holes on the lake. you should make a trip to the potholes, lots o' crappie, bluegill, and bass around the dock & riprap.

I moved from Ohio to seattle recently, and I fish for crappies in Ohio. I was told that Union Lake and Washington Lake are polluted? Is it really?

They arn't pristine aquifers of holy water, but the pollution factor is debateable.

Lk Union, being a lot smaller seems to have a greater reputation as being dirty - it also seems to have a lot more industry relative to its bodysize along its shoreline.
Washington is a lot bigger but some people still won't eat anything out of it (I eat the occasional panfish out of Washington however).

I would say in the long run as long as you arn't trying to survive off of the fish in either lake you would be fine but I'm no biologist. They set the guidelines on consumption for a reason I suppose.

I would not suggest eatting any thing out of Union but I know people that do it all the time and they are still kicking. washington is fine, do not let any one tell other wise unless you are eating the bass.... There are some bigg slabs in Lake washington.......... and if you figure out how to catch them be sure to let me know....
