Haven't been out at all. I understand Potholes has been hot too.
You guys been out lately? The last two weeks have seen the Fall bite come on strong. On some of the larger lakes the fish are already in late fall/early winter locations (been finding them hanging on the ends of points in 25' to 35' of water). I have not found any fish in the basin areas yet though. On the smaller lakes they are just starting to hit the fall transition. Fish are loaded up on 10' to 15' flats that have wood or rock cover which extends to the drop off. Just outside the mouths of coves have been great too. They have pulled off the weedlines for sure and seem to be using the confined open water near sharp drops into deeper water. Tons of perch in the weeds still though and maybe a few straggler crappies.
We have fished Tanwax, Cassidy , Union, Washington, and Dolloff. The bite has been hot on all of them once you find the fish. Cassidy has been almost unbelievable but the word is getting out on that one. Lake Roesiger is on fire too.

I went to the Paterson area 2 weeks ago just for giggles because I was bored. Pretty much caught perch and small small bass. I'm guessing the larger bass have moved out onto the main river already. I'm probably going to head up to Moses Lake Monday to fish off the bridge for the mixed bag of panfish and then I'm going to try to get my dad to go to Silver Lake for crappie if he isn't elk hunting the whole weekend.
I've went to Alder Lake the last two weekends with NO luck. It's my only two times fishing there and without a FF at the moment it's really tough. AFter reading some reports I don't think I'm fishing deep enough. I have tried a variety of colors and sizes, but nothing. Hoping to go back soon, so hopefully my luck will change.
Luck has nothing to do with it, it's how you wiggle your worm.
Checked out Sawyer today. Had to cover most of the lake to find the fish but they where all kegged up in three spots for the most part. Lots of little fish...not many big ones. Don't think I'll be back this Fall since other lakes are kicking out big boys. There is a strong class of 6-8" fish though. Caught a few that went 10"-14". Bass where still biting good too. Perch schooled up right off the boat launch (heading to the right as you leave the launch) in 22' of water.
Alder is going to be a tough nut to crack I think. So much cover out there. My plan is to stick with the creek channels and troll the bends. I need to get back up there.
JB: Silver should be good now in the canals or along the piling rows (deeper ones). We'll be up there this weekend. Hope you guys make it out. It's like shooting fish in a barrel up there. Gotta work for the big ones though. Use larger jigs or fishing deeper seems to help. Some of the other canals are better for larger fish. Just gotta cover water like always.
Yeah one of the guys from an Oregon fishing website that used to guide at Silver said he went out last weekend and caught a couple hundred in the canals. He said there were a handful of keepers that he caught. I never have tried going to the southern part of the lake for the pilings but heard that's where those larger ones are at. I haven't gotten out over there for a couple years but thought this year would be good to get out since my nephew is 5 now.
Just got back from Moses awhile ago. The crappie and perch were in there, had a good bite the first 2 hours I was there, then it slowed down a lot. A lot of nice sized crappie and perch, only had to throw back one fish. Kept about 15 mixed bag of the two. Lost about 5 keeper crappie bringing them up out of the water and had a lot of short bites that I missed. Most likely going back with the girlfriend Monday to fish up there.
Just got back from Silver. Fished from about 10am to 5pm. The bite was crazy in the canals. Caught hundreds of little of fish back in there. Tubes worked okay for the smaller ones but once we switched to a different style of jig and a new rigging I've been working on for the past few months....it was lights out on the keepers. There are some nice fish in there. My girlfriend was tired and ready to go after a couple hours of catching fish on every damn cast. I have no idea how many keepers we caught but it was over the top. Just insane. Main lake is still holding the most slabs. We had no issues pulling in keepers on the main lake.
