Fished LaCamas Lake about once a week starting in May. Last fished sept. 18. I've been fishing the lake six years for Crappie. Seems like it gets a little bit harder to find the fish and fish of any size. Nothing but dinks this year. Part of the problem is the after Labor Day draw down of the water. This is done to allow inspection of the dam. Wreaks havoc in the lake as most of the cover is exposed. Also the fish seem to follow the current and/or the warmer water towards the dam. Two park areas at that end of the lake. The fish seem to go into their end of season feeding about the same time. Many folks start showing up with their five gallon buckets. The slaughter starts and goes on all day and into the night. And many keep everything they catch from three inches and up sometimes filling multiple buckets. And then for whatever the reason the fish stop biting. Too bad. This could be a decent fishery with proper management.
i fished Lacamas lake for MANY MANY years......and the state has absolutely no clue whats is and isnt in that lake beyond the stocked early spring trout......the crappies are still there but in dwindling numbers.....and all around Vancouver and Portland crappie numbers are falling as it is the cold water fish they are really worried about.
