I thought I read somewhere that they sprayed the weeds in Ohop and the fishing was terrible.
    Is that true?

fishing in Washington state for panfish is usually excellent I have fished many lakes in your state even along the Columbia River has some excellent fishing number one on my list was Silverlake when I lived in Portland Oregon it was close by within a day's drive I know the information might be tough to get you can contact Oregon Bass panfish club they will deftly point you in the right direction you can contact him on the Internet.

Silver lake is in my to-do list of lakes.
I belong to the Western Washington Walleye Club and we go on outings for many species.
Too bad there are no Walleye in western Washington. We have to go down to the Columbia or over to eastern Washington.

It changed the way that the lake "fishes" if that's even a word lol. Removing the bad weeds has given the crappies access to the wood that was getting buried under it and the crappies are growing real nice in there. Numbers are high too....just like Silver Lake after the weeds where sprayed. You just have to fish a little deeper (like 12' to 15') during middle the day. They will still move up on the brush piles in 5-8' of water but not unless it's low light. If you find places where reeds meet brush they will hang in there most of the season.

Caught these guys on a very small Federal Way lake today. Most where 11" with two going right at 13". Fish where hanging on weed edges found along steep banks only. The bluegills where spawning so I think they have pushed the crappies off the better flats on these little lakes. Caught some huge bluegills...should have took some pics of them. Crappies where all eating bluegill fry. Find the right depths and cover...find the fry.....and you found the crappie. Sorry about the size I just started using photobucket again and have to resize everything.

I've had in mind to fish the Columbia River here in Eastern Washington this spring in the sloughs. I've heard it can be decent, hopefully next spring I can get down to them to fish. During this spring I was usually fishing the I-82 ponds for crappie and going to Lyon's Ferry and fishing for catfish on the main river.

Did you ever make it out to Potholes? I've been fishing it off the dock during the day for the past month and been doing decent, catching 5-10 keeper crappie and a bunch of smaller ones every time I've made it up there. It might be a real good year next year, since a lot of the fish I've been catching have been around 8 inches. I might go there this weekend and try renting a boat since I've heard they're lowering the water and try for walleye off Goose Island.
