    Default Eastern Washington Help

I've managed to find a few crappies in Newman Lake and I know there are crappies in Liberty Lake but the launch is too dangerous for my feeble legs. I fish from a 12' jon boat and would appreciate any guidance to decent crappie waters with a safe launch. I'm really starting to enjoy fishing for crappies. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried fishing Downs Lake before? I remember reading reports on the other Washington website and wanting to try it out a few years ago for crappie and perch when I first moved up here to the Tri-Cities. It has a dock too for launching. I didn't have any luck for crappie the 2 times I have been to I-82 pond 4 last week. Caught a bunch of bass though, a couple perch, and trout. Girlfriend of course caught a crappie around 10-11". I'm probably going to try hooking up with Jiggmeister from Walakes for some fishing soon.

I've fished Downs Lake only once without any luck. I did talk to a fellow who rents a cabin every year and he does quite well on Bass & Perch. Downs Lake is the only lake I've been to that has "Watch Out For Rattlesnakes" signs on the outhouse. The guy that camps there every summer told me he has them in his front yard quite often.

    Joe,
Go to http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/washington/ and do a search for black or white Crappie.
That should give you a head start anyways.

    Fixed the link.
At the bottom of the page you can click on the access button and see info and even pictures of the launches.

Thanks. That's the best information I could ask for.

    You're welcome.
I just learned about that site last week when we had a biologist from WDFW give a talk at our Western Washington Walleye club meeting.
He said they were trying to improve it all the time.

Ya. According to the WDFW, I can find crappies in several local lakes that I used to use for trout fishing. I'm not sure what size crappies those lakes have to offer though. I'll have to try them and find out. Oh, what a pleasant dilema I have to look forward to.
