    Talking Silver lake Crappie

The best time to go after crappie at Silver lake is Late Oct. The big females are the last to show up and I do NOT fish for the BIG crappie in streeters canal. You can find better canals on the lake other than streeters. Oct. 15 till early Nov. is the best for numbers and the last week of Oct and into Nov. is the best for the big crappie (most over a pound and some over 1.75lbs).
You can get crappie now at silver lake out in the main lake. I did see some feeding is a bug scum line in sucker creek (a good crappie area). This time of year they hold on the edge of the pads, docks, pilngs, log booms and brush.
when I was guiding on the lake I would hit the normal crappie spots early Saturday morning to give the fish sore mouths so some one would not fill a cooler. But plenty of crappie remained for any one to catch but not in the hundreds. This way the crappie would stay on the spots and everyone could catch a some. Now that the lake has a limit this lake will go crazy with crappie! I think in three or four years we are going to see lots of two pound crappie and some good numbers of three pounders. And the state recort could be broken over time! Silver is a GREAT crappie lake and the limit will only make it even better. I C&R 98% of the time when fishing for crappie. So this will be geat news for people like me that love just catching a bunch of good crappies and toss em back. Take some photos first. I have fished Silver lake for almost 20 years. The limit is a G R E A T thing for Silver Lake.
