Unfortunately live minnows is out here in Washington.
I know they do pretty good with chartreuse and white down at Silver lake.
I will send you a PM with a link that has some good stuff.
I'm wondering what colors do people here in Washington use when they catch Crappie. Down in Louisiana I always used Zoom Tiny Flukes Shad Color. I'm sure they'd prolly work up here, cuz shad are everywhere. I'm just wondering if there is something better I could be using. Besides live minnows, I'm not a bait kind of fisherman.
Luck has nothing to do with it, it's how you wiggle your worm.

Yeah, be sure to check the regs before you go fishing. Putting any kind of live fish on a hook will get you a big fat ticket. You can fish them dead if you want to go through the trouble of catching and freezing them yourself. None of the shops sell minnows except for preserved ones, and they're no good since they're either half mashed or stiff as a board from the preservative. Stick to jigs or tiny cranks.
Crappies like the same colors everywhere. Can't go wrong with different combos of white/color and chart/color. Water clarity is the main factor in my experience.
Don't worry, catch crappie.
I'm not a bait fisherman. but thanks for the heads up. Never heard of that.

I would strongly recommend you sit down and read the regulation booklet, at least the part in the front that gives the statewide rules and the sections on areas you plan to fish. There are a lot of regulations on specific waters, especially in regards to where you can and can't use a two pole permit. Most of them have to do with saltwater or rivers, but you absolutely need to know them. There is no statewide limit on crappie, but some waters have size and catch limits.
Just took a peek at the WA regs, and I swear, they get more complicated every year. I miss fishing for salmon and halibut, but I'm glad ID has much simpler regs.
Don't worry, catch crappie.
