If you are camping at Steamboat State Park there's always the south side of the Punchbowl over by the highway. If you catch a walleye, mark it on your GPS and stay in that spot. Probably a school.

Hey KK I was at banks 5 days ago. nobody was getting eyes in the southend.
south of steamboat and barker flats were the hot spots! harnesses Walleypops and cranks were the biggest producers. We would troll till hookup
then throwout the marker buoys and start jigging beavertails and Berkley3" Gulp craws. SmallMouth. are not a problem they are attacking everthing you toss out. have fun and pray the wind stays away.

if you find a school use the 1/8th oz. jighead brown curly tail tipped with a nice chunk of nightcrawler. in my opinion its alot more fun than trolling cause sometimes you will feel them hit it or pick it up off the bottom. You can also catch smallies at the same time. The main thing i learned about walleyes though is that slower is better. I will stop rambling now

i've never been there but i think the smallies will hit just about everything. i bet drop shots, senkos, and if they're really hitting crankbaits would be fun. could be wrong though.....

last week at Banks I was killing the smallies and 6 largies on 5" YUM dingers in smokey redflake rigged both texas and wacky style ,my pardner did better, including 2 walleye but using the Berkley Gulp minnow with both jighead and wacky, also the Timber Tiger # 13 worked great on walleyes and smallies. good luck I'm Jealous

You can get smallies and largemouth in the punch bowl if they are shallow throw spinnerbaits top water ect ect if they are deeper go out on the main lake and pull carolina rigs and lead heads with smallie beavers over deeper structure in the 10 th 20 foot range. If you are after walleye go straight across from coulee playland and tie up to the spillway bouys there will be a hump right on the edge of them that you can find with your graph, throw jigs or just a carolina rig and catch bass and walleye.
