    Default Moses Lake/Potholes

I'm heading over there for some walleye this Thurs and Friday. Probably going to head up Lind Coulee first and see if we get fish, if not going to fish Conully Park area Thurs evening. I was just wondering if Lind Coulee would have crappie in there this time of the year or not. Probably going to try Hutchinson for crappie, bluegill, perch, and bass too after fishing for walleye at Potholes Thursday morn. Thanks for any help.

They might be up there. Most years they don't move into the coulee until summer and they hold on deeper rockpiles but it's always worth a shot. I'd try running up Crab Creek as far as you can and looking for beaver huts. There will be some slabs up there if the water is at least 56*. The Coulee will be loaded with walleye for sure though. Run up past the Rd M bridge, the Coulee splits into a Y. Fish in the brush at the point made by the Y in the Coulee (on your left hand side as you are running up). The walleye like to hide in that brush like bass and can be in water as shallow as 3'. Or keep heading up the Coulee and troll or drag a jig right along the willows.

Down in the Seep lakes check out Upper Goose if you get a chance. Hit the far NE corner and look in 15-22' of water. Watch the graph....all of those fish you see just off bottom are walleye. Get right on top of them and jig a grub tipped with a worm. You should clean up back there. Good luck.

I'd try up the crab creek area but we only have a 14' Duraboat, probably get stuck in the sand if we moved up that far into the channel and it's supposed to be windy on Thursday so we probably aren't going to go out onto the main lake unless the weather reports change. We'll probably try the spot in Coulee that you're talking about if the 25-30 foot flat we fish at doesn't kick out any fish, we've never fished up that far past the bridge. Thanks for the info on Upper Goose, never have fished that lake, might have to check it out if the winds kick up since we probably won't fish Moses Lake during the evening now.

Yeah, I get chill up my back just thinking about that wind out there. Hope you guys nail some fish. Some buddies and I will be heading out there next weekend for trout and walleye.

Well the fishing and wind sucked. On Thursday when we got there we ended up fishing for a hour on the Lind Coulee and said screw it because the water was rough. Even some of the guys in their larger boats prefishing for the walleye tourney for this weekend were complaining about it and got off the water. Went to Hutchinson later that day and only got one small bass and had a pretty good hit on a crank but it got off. Friday was windy but the water was a little better and fishable at Lind Coulee, still didn't pick up any walleye, had one bite that took half the worm but didn't get on the hook. Only saw one boat catch fish off a point at the island in Lind Coulee where it dropped off from 15 to 25 feet. Plenty of boats prefishing for the tourney didn't help. Counted about 30-35 trailers in Lind Coulee by the M road when we left on Friday. Hopefully you do a little better and it gets a little better for next week Slabking.

Thanks for the report JB. That wind can really screw things up. I almost sank out there a few years ago when I got caught out in a really bad wind storm. Looks like the winds will be in play this weekend as well but the weather should be a little more stable.

We hit the lakes hard this weekend. The wind was kicking but not too bad. Maybe 15mph or so. We checked out the spillway for trout early Sat for a couple hours. No luck there so we moved down to Potholes and the Seeps to check out the largemouths. Hit Upper Goose and caught some really nice rainbows. Fat and healthy 16 - 20" fish. Fished it hard for walleye but came up blank. Hit the dunes and some hard to reach favorites and came up with nice largemouths. Water temps where around 57 and lots of fish on beds and crusing the shallows. Killed them on 6" Hudds, Sweet Beavers, Buzzbaits, and various plastics.

We also fished at night for channel cats but only caught brown and yellow cats. We must have caught about 30 or more but tossed them all back. Ran into some guys that had 3 channel cats over 7lbs and one that went about 12lbs. They caught their fish near the State Park.

Good report, glad you got into some fish. I've always wanted to try catfishing there but just never get the time to do it while fishing at Potholes during our trips.
