What would be a good rod and reel combo for jigging walleye?

What type of fishing method are you going to be using? I like a nice stiff pole with a soft tip for jigging or drifting live baits. Open faced reel for jigs and baits (6# line). Bait casting reel for trolling with 8 or 10# line. While trolling lures I like a stiff bait casting outfit, a bass outfit would work. Line diameter and visiablity are a concern since the water will be much clearer than you may be accustom to. 6-7 footers are a good lenght for the poles.
Thanks i understand we will be using jigs with minnows for the walleye

A bass soft plastic/shakeyhead or spinjig rod will work just fine. M or ML power that is fast action will work.
I am no expert by any means, however I did stay at a Holiday Inn last ..... never.
Seriously, I have done a ton of research and there seems to be a repeating pattern for jigging.
I bought a St. Croix Premier Spinning Rod 7' single piece, Medium Power, Fast Action, 6-12 pound, 1/8-5/8 ounce, and a Shimano Shara 3000FD spining reel.
Based on my research, it was recommended to get
6'-7' long rod,
single piece for sensativity,
Medium power so it has the backbone for snags, larger fish,
Fast Action so the tip is sensative enough to feel the suddle strike, and
1/8-5/8 becuase Ill be fishing in a river with current. The weight of lure will depend on where you will be fishing the most.
I opted for the St.Croix for personal reasons, made in America by Americans. Some of the St.Croix rods are made in Mexico, and they are less expensive.
