    Default New boat possibility?

With my new job and the big pay raise that came with it I'm having thoughts of a new boat circulating in my head. (along with the fact that fishing has been lousy at Western Branch and great at Kerr) I rode with fishdoc last year and was very impressed with his boat which was a 17 foot Alumacraft Tournament Pro, Vee hull. I don't need anything that big, (I don't think that model is available anymore anyways) but am liking this model. fishdoc has a tiller model and I'm fine with one as well. I can see that I can easily rig this boat for spider rigging up front and run a bar across the back to long line or pull cranks. I'm not buying anything anytime soon, but maybe this winter. Any thoughts?

That is a nice boat Tap. I would recommend looking at Tracker and G3 as well.

deep v lowe or lund and be done with it , I have had mine for 19 years and easy to tow go into the bay or 8" of water I have been rather hard on mine i beach it , bang on docks when fishing, and on other hand roomy somewhat I have slept in it many a time ..have taken 100+ mile rides ,drag tubes ,pulled anyone needing help, and it a good wake preventative to have, the high sides keep ya onboard. inexspensive good on fuel , stand up walk around prevent cramps, troll tmo waters with ease........and safe has level flotation as well as adequate storage........

Alumacraft makes a nice boat. I've got a G3 Outfitter made by Yamaha. It's a 17 footer with a 7 foot beam which makes it real stable. For power I have a Yamaha F50 four stroke and an MinnKota AP on the bow. It's a great size boat, big enough for 3 to fish out of comfortably, yet easy to launch and recover by yourself. Easy to tow also, I've towed it over 4000 miles since December.

Oh yea Tap. That would be a fine craft. They make a nice boat. Many other do too. Rapprunners boat is just like that, 16' with the console. He has had it for 25 years and it has done everything. You will love the stability and the roominess.

Look around and get exactly what you want.

That's something I have to figure out. I suppose it will be a good problem to have when the times comes. I'd sure like to hang onto it for Burnt Mills.

Tap.........Like Ranger said, look around, get what you want. If I
was your age I personally would want a Bass Boat to fish for crappie.
The reason being is they are really stable when it's real windy. I have
taken notice when some of the crappie fishermen fishing in the same area
as I they had solid boat control where I would be having some what of a
problem with boat control. I think this is due to my Tracker Pro Deep V 17
has high sides and it does not sit in the water as deep a the bass boat.
The boat you have shown us is a nice looking boat, and I'm sure there are
a lot of other good boats out there. You will have to make the decision.
I think I'm too old to even think about buying another boat....unless a real deal
shows up. I'll just have to contend with poor boat control in real windy weather.
