Default Chick Lake gives up a citation!

No matter how hard I stretched her, she was still 14.75" long----but she was plump! 2.12 lbs of plump, to be exact! Wasabi has a picture, I hope.

Today was my 5th full day of fishing so far this week. It was a beautiful day & the fishing was good--maybe 40 or 50 fish total.

Other than the one big one, only 2 crappies got a one-way ticket out of New Kent County. Most of the specks were fat & decent size--but not quite keepers.

The real excitement was ringers! We caught them in several places at various times of the day, but they were all in 1.5' to 3' of water. With 6 keepers, we landed well over a dozen. Wasabi hooked up with the biggest one--11.75"--very, very close to a citation.

As Doodlum already posted, Deep Drop joined us for the day.

It was nice to meet you, man. I'm sure our wakes will cross again soon.

Here are Doodlum, Shoer, and Deep Drop solving the problems of the world.

While they were doing that, Wasabi & I moved on to catching a few more specks.:D

It was nice to see everyone today & a great day for fishing!

Sounds like you all had a good fishing day and a ton of fun. Congrats on the pig, Corker. There a way to get another 1/4 inch in length, but the fish ain't to pretty when you do it! Good luck to everyone going to Gaston tomorrow. My trailer is almost ready to roll again, will try to make up for this week next week.

    Default Good Job

There Mr. Corker. I knew you would catch a slab as much as you fish. I sure wish I could fish 5 days a week:D Hopefully one day! Very nice catch!

Here are a couple more pics.

Jeff taking us on a tour of the shallow reaches... a lot of nice weeds and sediment up that way...a lot... :D

I think Chick Lake is my favorite lake - just a really beautiful place.

Congrats Corker. How many times did you say "please be a crappie" before you got him in? Great pics too. Billy

That must have been the difference between Sunday & yesterday. The Pickett fish also measured at 14.75", but I had to net it myself & it didn't quite tip the scales.

    How did you know that?
    I was also saying:
    - please don't flip off at the boat like the one on 2/24
    - please leader, don't come untied like the one on 3/24

That's where he hides to practice using his fly rod.
When he finally gets the hang of it, he'll admit that he's
secretly been taking lessons from Quacker for years.
