    Default Buggs Bash

Anyone looking to share room (other than Dayton) for Friday night before bash? I am hoping to go down on Friday morning and fish and don't want to drive back up here.

    Why?

Is the fishing really that much better at Buggs/Kerr than around central VA?

I ask because I see so many crappie and bass fisherman driving from Richmond/Williamsburg to Buggs/Kerr every weekend.

That would get really old to me...especially with gas prices the way they are.

When I think of driving that far to fish, I always think about the thousands of fish I passed along the way on the way south to the lake.

Does the fishing really justify skipping out on the James river, Diascund, Chick river, Chick lake, Little Creek, and heck even Western Branch, Lake Prince, etc?

I have thought about fishing a few local clubs but I always back out every year because they have tournaments on the Potomac and Buggs/Kerr....that's just too far to drive for me, especially when you take into account things like potential trailer breakdowns, gas prices, lodging, etc.

Kerr is known as one of the best crappie lakes in the U.S. I think that it has a much higher crappie per acre count than any other lake in Virginia. I've only been out there 5 or so times and the current price of gas will probably keep that number low.

Yes, the fishin really does justify drivin 150 miles roun trip for me....like last wed. caught 4 from 2lbs to 2lbs 12oz. 3 more at 1 3/4lb each. had 30 more that averaged a pound apiece. have caught nearly 6,000 crappie there this yr. average over 150 a trip. well justified.IMHO.
