Dayton,
What a great read, gotta love it when you get a day like you described. Happy you found a few fish on that brush. Cool story about the eagle and the fish. Sounds like a great day for all involved.
Family trip to Rudd’s Creek on Buggs today. 12 family members in all including 3 elementary aged great-nieces. We had a blast. Each girl got to catch a couple crappie before they were ready to be back over the side and into the water.
Thanks to Roy!! Since I don’t fish Buggs much snd almost never in the summer, I asked Roy if he might share a spot for me to take the girls. Without hesitation, gps numbers began arriving in my phone! I too am blessed with good friends. Easily drove right to some Beautiful brush piles, marked some fish and ran back to pluck the girls from the swimming area. They loved the boat ride, catching fish, playing with minnows, 3 crappie in the livewell, using the bailing cup to pour water on sisters, jumping in with life jackets to see if fish would bite their toes, a faster boat ride snd ice cream from the floating marina store.
It was old fashioned mayhem in the boat! The good kind.
One of the crappie did not survive playtime. We talked it over. Choices were to take it home and eat it. Find another fisherman to give it to, or release it for the birds or turtles. The vote was to set it free. As we trolled around to pick up marker bouy and prepared the boat for the ride back a bird came across the lake almost on cue. The came overhead. A very special bird. Broad with a white head and white tail feathers. He passed us and we all watched. He saw it and turned. No time for camera. That beautiful Eagle glided down and picked it up, made a right turn and headed for the the tree line. It was very cool. We thanked him/her for making good use of our mistake. That fish did not go to waste.
What a great family day. Thanks again Roy. I don’t take it lightly that you trusted me with your info.
No pictures. Girls aren’t mine and the internet is no place for young bikinis. But know that mom, dad, grandma and grandpa have pictures of them holding crappie with one hand and 3 thumbs up! All smiles. The sno-cone colored face pics are priceless too.
May each of you be as blessed as I am.

very good reads, thanks for sharing with us
Oh what a wonderful day. You are truly blessed. Those girls will remember that time for ever. I had a neighbor that used to take me out on his boat and troll for bass. I have never forgotten about him.
