I just updated my avatar. I'm still grinning!
Got my only 3 from Santee Cooper on Easter Sunday in 1988. Hugh Crittenden did the mount, he was twice the price of everyone else and it was worth every cent. When I knock the dust off its looks like it just came out of the water. 3 lb 6 oz, 18 inches and thick too. It was my first fish of the day that day, I didn't care if I didn't catch another one all day.
Roy I updated my picture, I really need to catch a good crappie and take a new one. I'll work on that tomorrow I hope. Good luck to all that get to go.
That's a very pretty mount!
There used to be a country store near Lake Anna where 522 and 208 come together. They had a crappie on the wall came from Lake Anna late 70’s. Man said it was 4.5 lbs. Best looking crappie mount I ever saw. He said Hugh Crittenden mounted it so that’s where I took mine. I’m glad I did. I tried to get my wife’s crappie done there, he had stopped mounting fish, I think he is retired now.

"ooo I got a bite !!!."
What a beautiful fish Roy. A smile from ear to ear. Only thing missing is that signature Green Bay Packers hat.

Kinda giving the Packers hat a break. Hard for me to support the NFL and some of their policies. I loved the Packers most of my entire life. Tough year to be a fan of almost any major sport.

Here is a picture of my 1st 3lb crappie from a few years ago. It is a replica. I think it turned out pretty good.

Congrats on your latest 3+ pounder Roy. Although I've never met you... I have a feelin' it couldn't have happened to a nicer and more deservin' feller.
