Glad to have you, from Bartlett, TN.
Just wanted to say hello I'm new to the forum, I currently live in Ohio but am originally from the Roanoke area. My wife and I are planning a trip back to sand bridge. Turns out surf fishing can be kind of slow the end of March / biggining of April so we r looking forward to crappie fishing based off what little research I have done. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Are you coming here for a short stay? Or moving here? Will you have a boat while you were here? I don’t live down that way but a few of our members do and will be along shortly to give you some advice. Welcome to the Virginia board
I've made some pretty good catches in the canals off of North Bay on the back side of Sandbridge. You just have to stay away from the gars. Find the deepest parts of the canals.
Quick question, im also new to the VB area and have only been on back bay once. I launched at Back Bay rd. Is there a launch further up by North Bay to get to those canals

Welcome aboard. There use to be a landing up there called Davis landing. The old man died and the place got closed years ago. I don't know the current status. We use to catch a lot of crappie out of there. Just find an old duck blind and fish around it. I know of one, if its still there, that over 1000 crappie was caught around it in a week. And that is just by the people I knew at the time. Then came the salt water intrusion and ruined back bay fishing. But again that was a long time ago.
You can sometimes launch a SMALL boat at North Bay Campground, but it is only open seasonally. Call first. Otherwise you have to launch off Muddy Creek Rd and cross North Bay, weather permitting, which it usually isn't.
