That's neat. I worked a school project with some of his guys back in the spring. Great bunch of guys. Have a good one bud.
R J Smith, owner of USA Iron and Metal put up a 40'x76' U.S. Flag on a 212' pole beside I-95 here in Chesterfiled, VA. He invited everyone in to watch it go up. We went and I will tell you that it was an impressive and humbling experience. Thank you Mr. Smith.
Here is what I saw.

Fantastic. But somebody forgot the flag is suppose to be raised quickly and lowered slowly. A big thanks goes out to Mr Smith.

I agree Bill. Flag should be hoisted proud and quickly. Kinda hated to make the videos so long but I wanted to make sure to get it all to show my parents. Neither of them were up to getting out.
Flag looks great. I get to pass it a lot. I have to drive right by it to get to the Dutch gap boat ramp.
Both of our kids are in high school now but we still stay close with their elementary school. When leaving there last week 3 4th graders were taking down the flag. I was amazed that one boy wearing his safety patrol harness, stood and watched as the othe boy and girl were correctly folding the Flag. They were doing a good job I asked who taught them to do that? The music teacher!! They fold it everyday. They are also very good about following the days Flag protocol. It’s at half staff when it’s supposed to be. I swear those people restore my faith in the world.
The assistant principal put together an event to put in raised gardens do the kids can plant this spring. Every kid (600+) got to shovel or scoop some dirt. It was funny to see a few kids skilled at working a shovel. Some kids seemed scared of the dirt. Cool project. Can’t wait to see veggies growing.

When I was MP at Fort Meyer the day shift put it up and afternoon shift pulled it down. We fired a 10 guage blank in a machined artillery shell in a cannon every time. One of those old ones you had to yank a lanyard to fire. Cool duty.
