Yup. Go to city web page. Find lake permit. Complete and mail in check.
Hello All
Just to follow up on my last fishing trip, I decided to make this a new topic because, I was stopped by Virgina fish and game, they pulled alongside and asked if I had caught anything, I replied I had a small bass, a few crappie, he asked for the usual, licence, life jackets, throw float, and checked fire extinguisher, he said everything looked fine and wanted to see my NORFOLK PERMIT...?
I said I have all my city sticker on the side of the boat and pointed to them... he chuckled!!
Then replied, don't worry about it, most folks don't know, but I need a Norfolk city permit to fish Norfolk lakes.
I'm thankful I wasn't fined but I totally DIDN'T KNOW about a city permit.
Anyone aware of a yearly city permit??

It does seem to be another cheap way, for the city, to get in your wallet. Usually state biologists and fisheries do any stocking or creel testing. City might spend a little effort in water quality but I bet if there is much of an issue they holler to the state for corrective measures.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
Norfolk has required a Boat Permit since the 1970s. All boats, including canoes and kayaks are required to have a permit and its good for all of Norfolk's reservoirs, except Lake Wright. No public access is allowed in Lake Wright due to security concerns and proximity to the Water Treatment Plant. You can get information using the following link.

Are you saying that you were asked for another permit in addition to your red sticker permit? I am a bit confused here.
Ok so I fished norfork this year with a buddy of mine that has had a boat on that lake for 20 years and said nothing to me about a special city permit.

I have fished those lakes for around 30 years with just the yearly sticker on my boat.
I was stopped one time and they did ask for the paperwork that went with the sticker, something about the person who purchased the sticker had to be in the boat or user had to have written permission on hand. Of course this was after being asked if I had a throw able which I threw up in the air and caught since I was alone. I don't think the lady thought that was funny.
