    Default Lake Cohoon

Decided to hit Cohoon for a bit yesterday. Hadn't been there in some time. I only carried some jigs, crank baits and jerk baits. Tried a variety of jigs with no luck, just a few very light "ticks" but no fish. Picked up the jerk bait and caught a 12" crappie on the first cast. I figured that was it, they wanted the big bait. Nope, could have gone home right then. I fished three more hours and caught two tiny bluegill and one tiny bass while trolling jigs. I tried every combination I could think of, all to no avail.

Of note, I did hear the guys talking in the bait shop before I left. One of them had just returned from Western Branch and he apparently caught 60 over there. Figures. Somebody always figures them out - just wasn't me yesterday. Oh yeah, I was told by another guy that the water was 57.

I quit fishing that lake years ago. Never did do any good there.
